Well if you are looking for something that is closer to a traditional gaming headset you need a microphone on your headphones and Portland, Oregon based Antlion Audio stepped up to fill this void with their ModMic. They can be cheap old school microphones or production quality microphones that costs as much or more than your headphones. There are a few different options with the most popular being microphones sitting on your desk. The problem of course is for online gaming you are going to need a microphone. This is why when you walk around a LAN you are going to see a few people sporting big headphones. You can also sometimes save some money going this route. As Windows evolves, I see the challenges increasing where developers can't patch things forever. What I hope to see from ReactOS into the future are GOG-like installers that use it. I'm also seeing more and more indie software where WINE is officially supported for Linux users, which is great at increasing a user base. And you're right - WINE is getting to the point where it's a bloody brilliant way to run old Windows software (I too have often found success with older Windows software in Linux+WINE where Windows 8/10 has failed). I think a 64bit build is a noble goal, but honestly I think getting 32bit compatibility up there is the real power of this project.Īs a Linux user, I do tend to use WINE a hell of a lot more. Whether that's installing it on old hardware, or running it inside a VM (like DOSBox, the most popular distribution method for FreeDOS). Click to expand.Much like FreeDOS, I see ReactOS's true power as being a freely distributable compatibility layer for people using old software.
